Wolf Hall is a historical novel by Hilary Mantel, published in 2009. The book is a biographical novel on Thomas Cromwell, an advisor to King Henry VIII.
Plot
The story 
takes off in the year 1500, introducing Thomas Cromwell as a young man, but following his path to power, now as an advisor to Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. After Cardinal Wolsey fell from favor, King Henry VIII noticed Thomas Cromwell, whom he desperately sought for a male heir.
