Description
“Things We Hide from the Light” by Lucy Score is the second installment of the “Knockemout” series and a contemporary romance. The plot revolves around a small town in Virginia, but secrets and past traumas play a significant role in every single one of these tiny town’s residents.
Summary
Two central characters make up the narrative in
Nash Morgan: Local sheriff with a reputation for being tough but fair. Still dealing with some of the emotional aftershocks from happenings in the last book, but he’ll keep his town and its people safe while he sorts out his own vulnerabilities.
Lana Faye: A mystery woman with a shady past. She just came to Knockemout seeking a chance to start anew. Her bad luck has been lingering; therefore, she relocates there. She is a tattoo artist.
With Nash and Lana crossing each other’s paths, they, seemingly, find their way into each other’s lives, but both of them have emotional baggage that complicates their growing relationship. Nash is protective; he does not allow people too close to him. Lana has trust issues because of her past.
The plot is healed over forgiveness and the community’s importance. Nash has to face his demons and deal with pressures at work in helping Lana navigate through her past. Together, they learn to trust and lean on each other, finding strength from one another.
A book filled with humor, heartwarming moments, and even some steamy romance, but set against the backdrop of a community as close-knit as it is tight; everybody here knows all the others’ business. This is a great read for fans of contemporary romance as it blends both emotional depth and lightheartedness in its core.
