Description

This is the first in a fantasy series. It basically depicted the story of two brothers, Jacob and Will Reckless, who are drawn into a mysterious and dangerous world. The story begins with how Jacob discovers an entrance to a magical realm known as the Mirrorworld, where one finds great danger, enchantment, and dark magic.

He even continues to cross into the Mirrorworld to rescue Will, who has been cast under a spell by a very powerful sorcerer and turned into some kind of monster. His journey through this perilous landscape involves encountering a series of fantastical beings, magical creatures, and treacherous foes in search of secrets of his own family history.

There is, of course, vivid imagination that comes with world-building by Funke, typical to his storytelling style. Novel themes include brotherhood and sacrifices towards fighting evil, an apt contrast between good and evil as Jacob walks through the trials brought about by his decisions.

Reckless has a thrilling mixture of adventure and magic, while its emotional depth in presentation is going to make an exciting read for you, then it plunges you into a richly crafted fantasy world that sets up further adventures in the book series following this one.
