Knox Beech: A new player who gets involved in events at Bayview High.
The other students: The book introduces some new characters and a few returns to those we encounter because of their interactions with one another within the social corridors of their school.
Generally, the plot develops against the background of friendship, betrayal, and the pervasive influence of social media. In their attempts to find out about the new threats and incidents, the characters confront their secrets as well as the ways they are connected to each other.

There are several dramatic twists in the novel that continue to keep readers guessing about who might be the real villain or what their motive would be. Finally, the climax leads to a great ending while putting other mysteries aside for further continuation.

At the very least, One of Us Is Next gives the thriller and addictive flavor seen in its predecessor a free ride. It is sure to get fans of young adult mysteries flipping pages.
