Description
Kill Joy” is a prequel novella by Holly Jackson from the widely well-received “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” series. The book follows the main heroine, Pip Fitz-Amobi, before she becomes involved in the cold fact of mystery-solving in the full series. In it, Pip is invited to a murder mystery party by friends, where guests play the character of a crime that has been fictionalized.
The game proceeds in such a way that Pip, with her keen investigative skills, finds herself deeply entrenched in attempts to solve this fictitious mystery. Her over-analysis and seriousness with the game revealed her basic natural instinct for investigation-but pointing to the future detective she would become. Alongside this murder mystery party, readers find glimpses of Pip’s personality, true crime passion, and a growing interest in solving puzzles.
It is a novella that lightly portrays the life of Pip before the series, but still in the suspenseful tone the novels portray through the efforts of Jackson. It is a very good introduction to Pip’s character and her penchant for mystery solving.
