Description
Kahe Faqeer is one of a set of works of Sir Syed Sarfraz A. Shah Sahab and the first book in the sequence. The author of this piece, Shah Sahab, who is a rather reliogious writer, has given some useful advice on the way Muslims, especially those of the modern generation, should behave when dealing with their brethren in faith as well as other people in the society. This is a unique recommendation that he stressed, a Muslim should not only look at the rights that have been given to him or her but also duties which are more than mere obligations.
In terms of character, I respect him as a personality which has taught me lessons in life and is a living example of a true “Faqeer.” It is an interesting feature also how in the book a ‘Faqeer’ is depicted as a man who pays and toils in the world without the help of prayers of Quran in order not to be relieved from the troubles of the world. To him the verses of Holy Quran are not a source of knowledge, wisdom or guidance but a means to getting closer to Allah. His love for Prophet Muhammad (P. B. U. H) is evident from the way he associates every lesson with Prophet Muhammad, and then clears any misunderstanding on his part.
He also underlines a fact that Allah can be found by purifying the heart and the soul from hatred, jealousy, lust, malice, envy, hypocrisy, and hidings animosity as explained by Shah Sahab in this book. Although many scholars have emphasized on the role of purification of the heart to get closer to Allah, none of them has provided certain steps to follow in the same way Shah Sahab did. In particular, Kahe Faqeer is considered one of the most valuable examples of a guide for a Muslim lost or confused.
