Plot Summary:

The novel has been written in the form of an autobiography by the protagonist, Robinson Crusoe. At a young age, Crusoe ignores his father’s advice to follow a steady career. He instead follows his desire for adventure, which leads him to a life of sea voyages.
After some adventures and misfortunes, Crusoe decides to go on his last sea journey, which eventually would end in shipwreck. Crusoe survives as the only survivor of the wreck on a far-off island. With his resourcefulness and skills, he managed to survive by building shelter, growing food, and domesticating animals. He made an elaborate journal of his experiences, including his innermost thoughts, fears, and reflections about religion and society.
He stays on the island for years and befriends a man whom he rescues from a gang of cannibals, whom he names Friday. And the two of them establish quite a viable community there.
A passing ship rescues Crusoe, and he returns to England. Feeling elated about his long period of alienation and life lessons he derived from his stay on the island.
