Plot Summary:
Tate Collins moves in with her brother, Corbin, to complete her nursing degree. She soon meets Miles Archer, a pilot and her brother’s best friend, who is emotionally closed off because of a terrible past.
Tate is immediately attracted to Miles, but soon discovers that he isn’t interested in that level of seriousness with anyone, yet what he does want is sex, no strings attached. He outlines a couple of rules: don’t ask about his past and don’t expect a future.
As her relation becomes ever more physical, Tate struggles with her emotions to Miles; she wants more than that which he is willing to give. Miles haunted by some tragic event from his past that leaves him emotionally scarred and unable to open up his love again.
The book does a great job of matching the secret, present-day affair between Tate and Miles with flashbacks about Miles’ past, revealing the painful story that made him the man he is today.
