Pride and Prejudice is a love novel from the English literature movement published anonymously by Jane Austen in three volumes in 1813. The work has come to be celebrated for its sharp wit and great character development. The novel traces the blossoming romance between Elizabeth Bennet, the daughter of a country gentleman, and Fitzwilliam Darcy, a wealthy aristocratic landowner. Pride and Prejudice received enthusiasm on its publication both by critics and readers, such that the first edition was sold out within a year. The book has been continuously in print since then.
